Experimental Farm Ottawa

After a doctors appointment we decided to take a walk at the Experimental Farm to enjoy the warmth of the sunshine. It was shortly after lunch time and the park was pretty scarcely populated with people. After bustling around on busy roads it felt like a mini-vacation to stroll around, watch the wildlife and enjoy the beautiful autumn colors of the trees all around.

The dragonflies were quite curious of us and one chose hubbies shoulder as a sunbathing spot.

The ducks were grouped together depending on activities it seems. There was a corner where only males were hanging out and in another one only females. I imagine, they were exchanging the latest duck gossip. In another area a group of ducks was sleeping and in again another one they were busy cleaning themselves.

We ended our lunch stroll by walking through the Arboretum where quite a number of squirrels were busy hiding their treasures.

Photowalk - Among the chickweed and trees

I enjoyed a lovely morning walk today. Met some nice people and saw some great animals along the way.

All the "little ones" are not so little anymore. It is amazing, what difference a few weeks make. There were a whole lot of different colorful dragonflies but they were really busy and nervous so I didn't get the pictures I wanted. Well, bummer, so I will HAVE to come back again soon and try again.

It's been a while but I finally saw one of the young owls again. What a privilege. Ok. Quite a number of people seem to see them all the time but I don't so for me they are a very special sight. It is especially rewarding if I find one on my own, like today.

We met again!! Almost all the baby fluff is gone by now. What a beautiful owl and I almost overlooked it sunbathing on that dry tree branch. :)

Photowalk - Mud Lake

Having been mostly indoors during the recent rainy and grey days, I just simply had to get outside on this beautiful sunny day. My late afternoon walk brought me to Mud Lake.

The filtered light coming through the fresh green leafs created a beautiful mood in the forest. Here are some impressions:
